Ahoy there me hearties :D

Hello there :D I'm trying to update my blog as frequently as possible so I thought seeing as I'm not that busy I would do a blog post. It's not very long as it's just an outfit of the day and a hairstyle of the day :D it's just an outfit of the day and a hairstyle of the day :D Unfortunately when I was taking these pictures camera died before I could take any full body shots so you can't see my face but here you are anyway :D

So you may have been able to tell from the blog title that my outfit today is sailor inspired :) I have on a breton style top from New look that I got yesterday in the sale for only £9 which is quite a bargain I think :P I really like this top and I especially like the button detailing on the shoulder. I think I'm slightly obsessed with breton tops as I have about 5 of them in differnt colours, but I guess you can never have enough of a good thing :D

I paired the top with a pair of dark wash skinny jeans from Dorothy perkins and a skinny brown belt from good old Primark :D This outfit is really simple but still stylish, because the sleeves are 3/4 length this outfit is perfect for those warmer days when you don't want to wear a jacket :P Unfortunately today when I went out I did wear a jacket but hopefully those warm days aren't too far away!!
For accesories I didnt go too overboard and I only have on this blue rose ring from new look shown in the picutre and a anchor necklace from accessorize that was only £1, another bargain :P

I straightened my hair today which did take some effort :( the whole process with washing, blow drying then straightening took over 2 hours but I guess the end product was worth it :D One of my favourite hairstyles to do is the bun. Buns are very versataile and depending on your outfit can be casual or smart. For me I feel they add a more sophisticate touch to your outfit which I like :D To create a big bun like mine I used a hair doughnut from boots, which makes the whole process a lot quicker and is great for people who don't have long enough hair to wrap around into a big bun
Well thats all for now I hope you enjoyed my post it turned out to be quite a long "short" post but oh well :P Stay tuned for another post :D

London Fashion Weekend

Okay so this post is way overdue :D I’ve been really busy with work and college stuff, but to put it plainly really I’ve just been lazy :P. Two weeks ago I went to Vodafone London Fashion weekend at Somerset house with the lovely Ronan and her sister Siobhan. The day as a whole didn’t really live up to my expectations but I still had a good time as I was with good company and its always good to get out and do something different once in a while.

Ok so the first thing we did when we got there was collect our goody bags which I was expecting to be full of fashion related goodies as you would, only to find it contained mouthwash, coffee, tissues and other junk that they collected and thought would give away. Thanks.

As I was thoroughly disappointed with London Fashion weeks goody bag I subscribed to Elle as you got a free goody bag from them with actual goodies. Inside the Elle goody bag was a miniature boxset of smashbox make-up which actually isn’t half bad, as well as a canvas bag and some other little bits and pieces.
The main attraction for our outing was the Catwalk which was at 13:30; we got there quite early so we had some time to spare so we had a look around Somerset house. Inside there were a series of rooms were all sorts of fashion related items being sold, i.e: coats, dresses, shoes, bags, accessories etc. I was really looking forward to looking at these rooms as I am definitely a girl who loves to shop however I didn’t find a single thing to buy L Everything was hideous and in my eyes a complete fashion disaster. But that’s just my opinion because loads of other women left with bags full of clothes.
When we had finished laughing at the “supposedly” high fashion clothes we went to a cafe inside Somerset house where I had a very tasty brownie which was probably one of my highlights of the day :P Eating had wasted some time and it was now time to queue up for the catwalk. I actually enjoyed the catwalk and thought it was really good even though some of the models couldn’t walk properly and one of them was practically laughing down the runway but other than that it was a well put together show.
I took loads of photos but I’ve only selected a few of them to show you what I think the upcoming trends will be for spring/summer 2011. So here goes:

1 - Movement: I think movement will definitely be a key trend this spring, I see lots of tassels and feathers on things like bags and dresses. I’m not overly keen on this trend but I think it can look good if you keep it simple. Don’t go overboard; keep the movement to one item only (one statement piece). For example if you have a bag with tassels don’t wear a dress with tassels or vice versa as you’ll start to look like you went scissor happy and cut up all of your clothes which is not a good look.

2 - Texture: Lace was really popular las season and it's back again!! I love lace on clothing and I love the whole "romance" look.Other textures like studs and sequins are really big this season too, but like I said before dont go overboard, use your textured item as a statement piece and keep everything thing else simple to keep your outfit looking stylish. Dont clash textures unless thats the look you're going for, it can look stylish when done correctly but I advise you to avoid doing it. If you do want to clash textures I say keep the texture on your top and shoes or coat and shoes that way the textures aren't directly after each other and there is a break between textures.

3- Colour: This is probably my favourite trend out of the three and I definitely see it working its way into all of the high street shops this spring/summer if it hasn't already. Who doesn't love colour? This season is about being bold and adventurous with your colour choices. Dont't be afraid to mix and match and clash colours:D I have to say this was my favourite collection and I loved the shoes :D I want a pair in every colour they're from Kandee shoes.

Well thats it for me for now :D Hopefully you should be seeing these posts a lot more frequently I will try my best to do at least 1 post a week :P We'll see how it goes :D xxx

Music, Money and Hip Hop Honeys

A few weeks ago I watched a BBC 3 documentary called "Music, Money and Hip Hop Honeys". Nel Hedayat the presenter investigates the Music industry to find out what the appeal is in becoming a "Hip Hop Honey" and what it entails. On her way she meets four aspiring "Hip Hop Honeys" hoping to make it big in the music industry. It was a really interesting documentary and I would definitely reccommend it. Personnaly I don't see the appeal in becoming a video girl and I was actually quite shocked to see the lengths girls will go to make it as a so called "Hip Hop Honey". Some girls aren't even getting paid for the jobs they show up to and are being exploited by sleezy video directors who are outrageosly disrespectful when referring to the girls, yet this seems to have no effect on their attitude to the industry and they continue to keep coming back hoping one day they will get their big break. To these girls it doesn't matter what other people think of them or how they are treated or how far they have to go to become a "Hip Hop Honey" even if it means doing things you once said you wouldnt do because once you make it the rewards will come pouring in. A successful video girl can make thousands per video like video vixen "Amber rose" (Kanye West's ex); but you have to ask yourself where do you draw the line on how far you will go to make it?
The scary thing is that some of these girls have no limits and are literally willing to do whatever it takes to make it.The reason why I'm talking about this documentary is because this morning I heard on the news that Claudia Aderotimi a 20 year old student died after going to America for an illegal 'butt enhancement' operation in hope for a much larger bum which would help make her a Hip Hop star. One of the girls in the documentary China Black also wanted butt implants to add to her previously enhanced boobs to help complete her goal of the "perfect" body; fortunately she decided against the procedure due to the cost rather than the effects but nonetheless she didn't go through with it. But if she had gone through with it she too could have ended up like Claudia Aderotimi, it's sad to think that so many girls out there undergo these procedures to achieve this so called "perfect body" and can't make it if their bum isn't the right size, or if they dont have the right waist to hips ratio. I hope that after reading Claudia Aderotimi story girls start to realise you shouldn't have to change yourself to fit in; if you aren't accepted for being you then maybe you need to ask yourself if that is the type of place you really want to be. Stop being a follower and be a leader, don't become a clone in the herd, stand out from the crowd for being you!!

"a chance is like a picture, it’d be nice if you just take it"

Hello, Goodevening :D and welcome to my blog! My names Keisha  and I started this blog because I thought it would be helpful as I want to be become a fashion journalist in the future. I wasn't too sure at first  whether I should start a blog or not as I wasnt sure if anyone would actually be interested in what I have to say. But then I realised sometimes you just have to take a chance and see how it works out. Fashion is my passion (that was cliche I know :D) and up until now I've never really been certain of what career I should take but I've realised my dream job is to be a Magazine Editor of a fashion magazine like Vogue, Look, Elle etc (fingers cross my dream comes true!!) Everyone say's the fashion industry is really competitive and it probably is but I'm a person who believes in taking chances to follow your dreams :D I could have picked a typical job like a Doctor, Lawyer, Accountant but would I be happy? It's all well and good having a well paid job (don't get me wrong I'm not one to turn away money) but I would rather have a job I actually enjoy than being unhappy with money. Well thats enough talking for me. I thought I'd end this with the blog title it kind of sums up what this post is sort of about, it's a Drake quote if you didn't know (lyric from Un-thinkable) I might as well tell you now that I'm his number 1 fan :D His name will proabably pop up in a lot of my posts :D Bye for now :D
